Rites to Be Thursday for Mrs. Petcoff
Funeral services will be held for Mrs. Vladimir (Eva) Petcoff, 71, Sunday Sept. 4 at 5 p.m. at Detroit, Mich. and Tuesday, Sept. 6 at 2:30 p.m. in Estherville. Services will be in the Christian church, the Rev. Lester Strubhar officiating. The casket will not be opened at any time. Friends may call at the Sternborg-Reese funeral home from 10 a.m. until time of service.
Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Petcoff died at 3:15 p.m., Sept. 2, in Detroit, Mich., from a heart ailment. She had been ill five weeks.
Eva Taber was born Dec. 24, 1888, at Donophin, Neb. Her parents were Albert and Sarah Taber. She received her education at Nebraska schools. She was married to Vladimir Petcoff in 1914 and moved to Emmet County in 1928, where they remained until 1940 when they moved to Detroit, Mich., and have lived there ever since. They had returned to Estherville to visit every year since leaving except one when prevented by ill health. Their last trip was a few weeks ago.
Mrs. Petcoff was a member of the Christian church while here in Estherville.
Survivors include her husband, two sons, Eugene of Ft. Dodge, and Boris of Detroit, Mich.; two daughters, Mrs. Henry Mayers, Gilbraltar, Mich., and Mr. Ray Bartleman, Detroit, Mich.; and one sister in Nebraska. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, September 3, 1960)
