Herman F. Origer, Pioneer Resident of County Dies
After a brief illness Herman F. Origer, 63, died last Friday [July 30, 1948] night in Holy Family Hospital. Mr. Origer has suffered a severe stroke the night before and died of a cerebral hemorrhage.

Mr. Origer was born at Humboldt on February 24, 1885. He came to Emmet County with his parents at the age of 10 and has resided here since that time except for a year at Humboldt and two years on a farm at Harris. He has farmed in this vicinity moving to Estherville last January.

He is survived by his widow, four sons, Francis, Vernon and Ralph, farmers in this vicinity, and Maurice at home, and one daughter, Mrs. Carleton Berkeking of Hayes, Kansas.

Funeral services were held from St. Patrick’s Church on Monday morning with interment in the Catholic Cemetery [According to cemetery records, Oak Hill]. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, August 5, 1948)
