Final Rites Held Today
Funeral Services for Mrs. Thomas (Harriet B.) Nivison were held today at First Presbyterian Church, Rev. H. Allen Wirtz officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery.Pallbearers included four nephews, Robert F. Howe, Dr. Ira B. Allen, Gould Morgan, Tom Howe, and Glen Wanamaker and Robert Knight.
Mrs. Nivison, 87, longtime Estherville resident, died Saturday [April 16, 1966] at 3:30 a.m. at the Good Samaritan Home. Her death was attributed to a lingering illness and a heart ailment that developed three and one-half months ago.
The former Harriet Bigelow was born at Au Sable Forks, N.Y., the daughter of Anthon and Jennie Bigelow. While a young child she moved with her parents and family to Vinton and received her education there. Since 1900 she had lived in Estherville.
She was married in 1911 [1916] to Thomas Nivison in Chicago. Mr. Nivison was sheriff of Emmet County for several years.
Mrs. Nivison was a longtime member of the Estherville Presbyterian Church and for many years served the church as treasurer. She also was a member of the Daughters of American Revolution and the Order of Eastern Star.
She is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Florence A. Howe of Spencer, Mrs. F. W. Allen of Tacoma, Wash., and Mrs. Will Irwin of San Jose, Calif., who now is visiting in Colorado Springs, Colo, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband and parents [ ] brothers and two sisters.
