Mrs. Glen Michael Dies; Rites Tuesday
Mrs. Glen Michael, 68, a resident of Estherville for 45 years, died Saturday [September 28, 1963] afternoon in Holy Family Hospital following a lengthy illness.

Rachel Melvina Hensley was born Sept. 9, 1895 at Silver Springs, Mo., the daughter of Francis and Clara Hensley. She was educated in the Silver Springs schools.

She was married Nov. 22, 1915 to Glen Michael at Silver Springs and the Michaels lived there until May, 1916, when they moved to St. Louis. The Michaels were employed in St. Louis until May, 1918.

They then moved to Estherville where they had lived since.

Mrs. Michael was a member of the First Methodist, taking an active part in the Women’s Society of Christian Service. She also was a member of the Degree of Honor Protective Association and the Rebekah Lodge.

Mrs. Michael assisted her husband in the operation of a service station during the war years when help was hard to get.

She is survived by her husband and two brothers, Arthur Hensley of Hillside, Ill., and Floyd Hensley of St. Louis. Her parents, two sisters and two brothers preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at First Methodist Church, the Rev. William R. Noland officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery. Friends may call at Fuhrman Funeral Home until noon Tuesday when the body will be taken to the church to lie in state.

Pallbearers will be Walter A. Schultz, Willard H. Bebo, Lee Blum, C. P. Jackson, Belva Ross and Douglas Hall.

A memorial fund for the First Methodist Church building fund has been established. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, September 30, 1963)
