Grover E. McCall Dies at His Home
Grover E. McCall, 75, longtime Emmet County resident, died in his sleep early Sunday [September 22, 1963] morning at his home in Estherville. The cause of death was attributed to a heart condition. He had been failing in health for the past two years.
Mr. McCall was born June 18, 1888, the son of Mr. and Mrs. George McCall, in Emmet County. He was married to the former Grace Fritz on March 10, 1909, in Estherville.
During his lifetime, Mr. McCall was engaged in farming, the oil business, and an employee of the Greig Elevator and for the past several years had been office manager for Dr. L. F. Bunge.
He was a member of the Baptist Church.
Surviving are one brother, George of Riverside, Calif., and one sister, Mrs. W. W. Bartlett of Pasadena, Calif.
Mrs. McCall preceded him in death in 1954 and his only son, Maurice, an Air Force pilot, was killed during World War II in 1942 in a plane crash.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Reese Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Rawlin Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Reese Funeral Home after 6 p.m. today until time of service on Wednesday. The casket will not be opened following the services. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, September 23, 1963)
