Fuss after an evening of cards at the Elks club had gone to his rooms in the Olaf Skog residence on south Seventh street but suffering with what he thought was heartburn from a late supper went out for a walk and up to the police station.
Merle Moller, officer, gave him some stomach mints and was preparing a dose of soda, water when Fuss collapsed.

During the world war he was in service from June 1918 until Feb. 1919 but was not overseas.
Charlie was born March 22, 1891 at Williams, Iowa, and came to Estherville as a small boy with his parents Mr. and Mrs. Paul Fuss. The elder Mr. Fuss was a shoemaker.
