Estherville – Frank M. Deemer, 97, died Friday, Nov. 14, at Holy Family Hospital in Estherville. He had been active until recent weeks, when he experienced declining health. Services will be conducted by the Masonic Lodge at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 17, at the Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville. Interment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday afternoon and evening at Fuhrman Funeral Home.Frank M. Deemer was born February 17, 1878, in Des Moines, the son of Joseph and Matilda Locke Deemer. He attended school there and after high school attended business college.
Mr. Deemer was employed by the Edison Light company of Des Moines, later becoming a partner in ownership of the Superior Fixture Company at Des Moines. Upon his retirement from the electrical fixture manufacturing business he served as an electrical inspector for the United State government during World War II.
Shortly after the death of his wife, Laura Hensler Deemer, he moved to Estherville, in 1952. He had made his home since 1969 at the Good Samaritan Center.
Mr. Deemer was a charter member of the Des Moines Rotary Club, and was exceedingly active in Masonic affairs. He was a member of the Consistory, and in 1921 was elected a 33-Degree Mason by the Iowa Supreme Council. He served as Potentate of Za-Ga-Zig Temple of Shrine and was actively engaged in many of its programs, including musical groups.
There were no children. Mr. Deemer survived seven brothers and sisters, including his sister, the late Mrs. Nelson J. Lee, who died June 15, 1972. He is survived by three nephews, Jack H. Anderson of Sunnyvale, Calif., and Deemer Lee and Robert N. Lee of Estherville. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, November 14, 1975)
