Charles R. Goss Passed Away November 14th
Charles Richard Goss was born at Blairstown, Iowa, on the 14th day of April, 1875, and died at Cherokee, Iowa, on the 10th day of November, 1928, at the age of 53 years, 7 months and 2 days.

He spent his younger years at Blairstown finishing his high school work there. Then he took up the trade of printing at which he spent four years. About twenty-seven years ago he came to Estherville to make his home with is sister, Mrs. Wm. Byfield. Shortly after coming here he entered the service of the Rock Island railroad, first as a brakeman, then as a conductor.

On the 20th day of May, 1908, he was married to Miss Christine Severson. To this union four children were born, two of whom, Margaret Catherine and Robert Earl, preceded him in death. The two living are Richard Charles and Elizabeth May. The sisters and brothers, who also mourn him are as follows: Mrs. Edward Graul, Mrs. May Byfield, and Mrs. Charles Bilto of Boone, Iowa; Mrs. George Edwards, George W. Goss, and Ray Goss of Blairstown, Iowa. While he lived in Estherville he was a member of the Masonic Order, also a member of the Consistory. He also was a member of the order of the Elks.

Funeral services were conducted at the Presbyterian church Sunday afternoon conducted by the pastor of the church and the body was laid to rest in the Oak Hill Cemetery. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, November 21, 1928)

Charles Goss died Friday at Cherokee, where he was taken to the state hospital four years ago, at the age of 53 years. Funeral services were conducted in the Presbyterian church here by the Rev. P.A. Davies and burial was made in Oak Hill cemetery.

Charles Richard Goss was born April 14, 1875, at Blairstown and after finishing high school there took up the trade of printing at which he spent four years. He came to Estherville 27 years ago to make his home with his sister, Mrs. William Byfield, and shortly after moving here entered the service of the Rock Island as a brakeman. He was later promoted to conductor.

Mr. Goss was married to Miss Christine Severson on May 29, 1908, and four children were born, two of whom, Margaret Catherine, and Robert Earl, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, two children, Richard Charles, and Elizabeth May, four sisters, Mrs. Edward Graul, Mrs. May Byfield, Mrs. Charles Bilto of Boone, and Mrs. George Edwards, and two brothers, George W. Goss and Ray Goss of Blairstown. Mr. Goss was a member of the Masonic order, the Constistery, and was a member of the Elks. (Estherville News, Estherville, IA, November 22, 1928)
