Mrs. Gorton Dies at 90
Mrs. Katherine J. Gorton, 90, long-time resident of the Estherville area, died at 12:50 p.m. yesterday at Holy Family Hospital. Death was attributed to infirmities of advanced age.

She was born Jan. 5, 1876, in Walcott, the daughter of Katherine and Henry Frank. As a young girl she moved with her parents to Estherville.

In 1901 she was married to George Leonard Groton in Estherville. They farmed in the Estherville area until Mr. Groton died in 1944.

Mrs. Groton moved to town in 1947 to make her home with her daughter, Mrs. Ruth McDonald.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. McDonald and Mrs. Floyd (Esther) Schenck of Estherville; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one brother, Walter Frank of Oakland, Calif.

Services will be Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Methodist Church, Rev. C. R. Buckwalter officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Harold Danielson and Louis Obye will sing at the funeral, and Mrs. Ruth Brawford will play the organ.

Pallbearers are Ralph Larue, Lonnie Smith, Frank Campisano, Clarence Gilbert, Cecil Darling, and Burton Clark.

Friends may call at the Reese-Henry Funeral Home today and tomorrow until 10:30 a.m. when the body will be taken to the church to lie in state until time of services. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, November 18, 1966)
