H. H. Doolittle Dies at Home in Cedar Rapids
Harry H. Doolittle, a resident of Cedar Rapids for the past 38 years and a brother of L. C. Doolittle of Estherville, died at the family residence in Cedar Rapids Thursday [February 15, 1945] following a brief illness.
Mr. Doolittle, a railway postal clerk for 50 years until his retirement in 1935, was born Oct. 24, 1859, at Mason City and went to Cedar Rapids from Estherville in1907. He was a member of the Central Park Presbyterian church.
Funeral services were held Saturday at the Turner chapel in Cedar Rapids and burial was at Estherville Sunday in the Oak Hill cemetery.
Surviving in addition to his widow are two daughters, Mary of Cedar Rapids and Mrs. William Hartwell of New Wilmington, Pa., a son, Carroll H. of Downers Grove, Ill., his brother at Estherville and two sisters, Mrs. Roy J. Ridley of Bell, Calif., and Mrs. Harriet Groom of Cleveland, Ohio. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, February 22, 1945)
