Died—On June 16, 1894, at 5 o’clock P.M., John Davis died at the home of his brother William Davis and was buried in the cemetery at Estherville, on the 18th ult., at 2 o’clock.

The deceased was born at Herefordshire, England in the year 1848 and at the time of his death was thirty six years old. In 1862 he moved from England to this state and settled at McGregor, where he remained some three years and them came to Emmett [sic] county where he remained most of the time up to this death. About two years ago he was taken with that almost fatal disease known as consumption. Since then his decline had been rapid, and for the last year little hope of his recovery has been entertained. Through life he has been one of the best of men. We never heard of his having a single enemy and his loss is keenly felt by a vast circle of friends. His relatives may be assured they have the sympathy of all in this their hour of grief.
