Gladys May Brown
Gladys May Brown, the youngest child of Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Brown, of Raleigh, was called home to be with Jesus, on Friday last, Sept. 5th 1902, at 8:30 p.m. – age two years, ten months, and twenty days. Suffering from whooping cough for nearly three weeks it turned into bronchial pneumonia from which she died. Dr. Adams was very attentive and kind all through her illness, and everything that loving hands could do to spare her precious life was done. She was laid to rest in the Oak Hill cemetery, close by the side of her grandfather, the late O. J. Brown, of Estherville. The funeral service, held in the Baptist Church last Sunday afternoon, at 2:30 was conducted by Rev. J. W. Neyman, who spoke helpful and comforting words to the grief-stricken parents and relatives. The hymns chosen were especially suitable, and sweetly sung by the young people of the church. They were as follows: “Safe in the Arms of Jesus”, “There is a Happy Land Far Far Away”, “When He Cometh To Make Up His Jewels.” (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, September 10, 1902)Last Friday at the home of the parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.B.
