Mrs. John Blagg
Kate Cole was born in Summy Devonshire on September 5, 1872, in the town of South Moulton. She came to this side of the Atlantic when fourteen years of age to live with an uncle, whose home was in Winona, Illinois. Here on March 30, 1892, she married John Blagg, and they have for nearly forty years walked down life’s ways hand in hand. On the first of March, 1896, they came to Emmet County and have since made their home five and one-half miles southeast of Estherville.
Three children, Mrs. Ola Haywood, Mr. Walter Blagg and Mrs. Rose Dunmire, with four grandchildren have risen up to call her blessed.
Mrs. Blagg was a conscientious, Christian woman. She was united with the Methodist Episcopal Church in 1910, during the pastorate of Rev. Dr. W. C. Wasser and has remained a faithful member of the church throughout the years that have intervened. As wife and mother, as neighbor and friend she occupied a place that will not be filled.
Funeral services were held from the residence Saturday, September 20, 1931, and burial will be made in Oak Hill cemetery with the Rev. R. T. Chipperfield and the Rev. W. A. WinterStein. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, September 30, 1931)
