Rites to be Tomorrow for Mrs. Zunz
Mrs. Lida Zunz, 72, died yesterday at 9 a.m. at the home of Mrs. George Robb after a long illness which had her confined to her bed for the past three weeks. Mrs. Zunz, a life-long friend of Mrs. Robb, had made her home there since leaving Holy Family hospital in March following major surgery.
Born Oct. 9, 1882 at Petersburg, Minn., she moved to Estherville with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Lyman when only three years old. She received her elementary and high school education here and then attended business college at Cedar Rapids before teaching for five years in Estherville Township schools.
After teaching school she went to St. Louis, Mo., where she was employed and where she met and married Ernest Zunz of St. Louis. The couple was married Nov. 20, 1907.
Mrs. Zunz has been employed for the past several years as head of the Art department of the Ben Franklin store and that store will close tomorrow afternoon during the funeral services in order that her co-workers may attend the services.
She was a life-long member of the Christian church.
Mrs. Zunz is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Ora Doretha Brown of Ruthven, four grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Clyde Martin and one brother, Fred Lyman, Sr., both of Estherville.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 2 p.m. in the Christian church, the Rev. Clyde Leeds officiating. Friends may call at the Sandin Funeral Home until 10:30 a.m. tomorrow when the body will be taken to the church to lie in state until time of services. The casket will not be opened after the services. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, May 23, 1955)
