Irv. Wright Died Very Suddenly
At Bismarck, N.Dak., Some Time Monday Night [June 16, 1924] – Former Estherville Drug Clerk

Irv. Wright was found dead in bed in a hotel at Bismarck, N.Dak., early Tuesday morning according to a telegram received yesterday by Jay Johnston, of this city. The cause of his death was heart trouble, of which he had been a sufferer for several years. Mr. Wright was a drug clerk in the Johnston drug store in this city some years ago and was very popular with Estherville people. It was while employed in this city that he became acquainted with Miss Louis Nichols, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Nichols, and afterwards were married. Mrs. Wright and child were here visiting at the Nichols home when word came of his death. We understand Mr. Wright had realized his physical condition for some time and had tried every way to better himself, carrying out every detail and advice of his physician. Irv. Wright had a host of friends in Estherville who will sympathize with Mrs. Wright and relatives in their hours of sorrow over his untimely death. Irv Wright Stricken With Heart Failure At Bismarck
Made His Home Here For Many Years And Was Universal Favorite – Was Druggist At Jay Johnston Store
Body Arrives Today for Burial Thursday – Wife Visiting Parents in This City

A telegram was received here on Tuesday morning of the passing of Mr. Irv Wright at the home of W. C. Bush at Bismarck, N. Dak.

Death occurred sometime during the night of heart failure.

Mr. Wright’s home was in Fargo and he was visiting Mr. Bush and enjoying a hunting trip. Mrs. Wright and their son Richard are spending the summer here with Mrs. Wright’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Nichols, and the news was broken to her as gently as possible. It has been known that Mr. Wright’s heart was not normal but his passing came as no less a shock because of that knowledge.

The deceased had made his home here for many years and was employed while here as a pharmacist in the Jay Johnston drug store. He was universally a favorite and many friends will sincerely mourn his passing. It is a great blow to his family.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the W. G. Nichols home on Second Avenue North, Rev. H. L. Olmstead of the Christian Church in charge. It will be a Masonic funeral with a Knight Templar escort. Burial will be made in Oak Hill cemetery.

Irvin Gill Wright was born April 27th, 1885, at Tara Junction, Iowa, and spent his early boyhood at that place. Later the family moved to Callandar where he attended school and graduated. Following this he was a student at Highland Park College, Des Moines graduating as a pharmacist. He worked at his profession at various towns and was with Jay Johnston in this city for seven years. For the past seven years he had traveled for the Nelson Baker Drug Company of Detroit, manufacturers of the Penslar line of drugs. His headquarters during this time had been at Fargo, N. Dak.

On October 17th, 1918, he was married to Miss Louise Nichols. They have one son, Richard, four years of age.

Besides his wife and son, he is survived by his mother, Mrs. J. L. Walrod of Fort Dodge, a married sister living near that city, two brothers Earl and Burr Wright also of Fort Dodge; two half brothers Vere and Claude Walrod, a half sister Lyle Walrod of Fort Dodge; a cousin Carl Gill pharmacist of Terril, and a cousin Clyde Gusland of Ft. Dodge, also an uncle, Dr. O. R. Wright of Huron, S.D. All of these relatives expect the uncle and married sister were here Tuesday and will remain for the funeral.
