A Pioneer Gone
William C. Walker Passes Away Last Thursday After a Lingering Illness

William C. Walker, one of the pioneer residents of this part of the country, died at his home in this city last Thursday of Bright’s disease, at the age of 67 years. The funeral was held Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. F. W. Ginn and was largely attended.

The deceased was born in Peru, Oxford county, Maine, April 24, 1837. On March 22, 1863 he was married to Sarah M. Cilley, and to this union were born six children, Charles H., George E., Angie M, Lena L., Alvah V. and William W., all of whom, with the widow survive, except Lena L. and Alvah, they having died in infancy.

In 1879 Mr. Walker and family located in Martin county, Minn., near the Iowa line, living there until a year ago, when they came to this city.

Mr. Walker was converted in 1866 and from that time to the day of his death was a faithful and consistent member of the Methodist church. The interment was in the west side cemetery. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, October 5, 1904)

Death of William C. Walker
William C. Walker died on Thursday, September 29th, at his home on east Des Moines street in this city. He had been sick for some time with Bright’s disease. Deceased was born at Peru, Maine, on April 24, 1837, and was married to Sarah M. Cilley on March 22, 1863. In 1879 they moved to Martin county, Minn., where they resided until October 1, 1903, when they moved to this city. Deceased was converted in 1886 and had been a loyal member of the Methodist church over thirty-five years. An aged wife, three sons and one daughter are left to mourn his death. The children are Charles H., Geo. E. and William W. and Mrs. Angie M. Austin. (Estherville Democrat, Estherville, IA, October 5, 1904)
