Russell Van Scoy Died Monday P.M. After Short Illness
Russell Van Scoy passed away at his home on the west side after a brief illness. The cause of death seems to be unknown. It is said he had not been ill up to Friday [July 24, 1936] morning. He was a radio repairman and was said to have been at work in a home in this city. Suddenly he asked the lady if he could lie down on the davenport as he was very ill. An electrician took him home. He became unconscious and up to the time of his death remained in that condition.
He has resided in this city about three years at which time he was united in marriage to Miss Charlotte Swanson. He was born near Osceola, Iowa, December 21, 1903.
The funeral services were held from the Ed Swanson home Thursday at two o’clock and from the Methodist Church at two-thirty, with Rev. F. W. Ortmeyer officiating. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, July 29, 1936
