Mrs. Chas. B. Nichols Dead
Passed Away at Home on the West Side Sunday Night

Mrs. Chas. B. Nichols died Sunday night at her home on the west side after a long illness. Four years ago she was stricken with paralysis, from which she partially recovered, but was again stricken last December. Since that time she has been a helpless invalid until death relieved her sufferings.

Henrietta Eunice Taft was born in Rome, New York, June 17, 1834, and moved from there to Oswego county with her parents a few years later and on December 30, 1856, became the wife of Charles B. Nichols. Two children were born to the couple, George A. Nichols, business manager of the Vindicator and Republican company, and Emma E. Nichols, who died from typhoid fever September 27, 1886, while superintendent of schools of Potter county, South Dakota.

In 1861, the deceased moved with her husband to Dane county, Wisconsin, and at the close of the war the family moved to northwestern Pennsylvania and afterwards back to Wisconsin, settling in Richland county, where she remained until 1885, when she followed her husband to Potter county, South Dakota. For the pat eight years her home has been in Estherville. She was a member of North Star chapter No. 200, Order of the Eastern Star.

The funeral services were held at the Nichols residence on the west side at 2:30 o’clock yesterday, being conducted by Rev. Richard Ellerby of the Episcopal church. The members of the Eastern Star had charge of the service at Oak Hill cemetery.

Mrs. Nichols was a noble woman and though not affiliated with any church lived a consistent Christian life. She was devoted to her husband and children and will be sincerely mourned by all who enjoyed her acquaintance. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, October 10, 1906)

Mrs. C. B. Nichols Dead

The funeral was held at the residence of her son on the west side, conducted by Rev. Richard Ellerby rector of the Episcopal church, and at the grave in Oak Hill cemetery the Order of the Eastern Star, of which she was an honored member, rendered the impressive ritualistic service.
