Obituary – Mrs. Luddington
Martha J. Lent was born in Syracuse, New York, September 29th, 1842. She was one of a family of nine children, none of whom are living.

On January 5, 1865 she was united in marriage to Mr. Martin J. Luddington, at DeWitt, Iowa. To this union eight children were born, five whom survive their mother.

She resided in Iowa for several years in Woodbury county and later the family moved to Los Angeles, California where they resided for seven years. Six years ago they returned to Iowa and located in Estherville where they resided until the death of Mrs. Luddington at 11:30 a.m. March 25th. Funeral was held from the Presbyterian church at 2:30 Tuesday afternoon. The services being conducted by Rev. Voorhies. Mrs. J. W. Morse and Fred Albertson sang solos. Interment was made in Oak Hill cemetery. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, March 29, 1922)

Mrs. J. M. Luddington died Saturday night at her home on North 10th street. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon from the Presbyterian church. The deceased was 69 years old and had been sick for some time. ((Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, March 29, 1922).
