Mrs. Henry Kruse Dies Suddenly

After an illness of about a week Mrs. Henry Kruse, a pioneer resident of this county passed away at her home east of Estherville on last Monday afternoon. Death was wholly unexpected as Mrs. Kruse partook of her dinner that noon. Immediately after dinner she was taken ill rather suddenly and death came soon. Mrs. Kruse was born April 14, 1856, in Okley, Ill. She has been a resident of Emmet county for the past thirty-two years. Here she has reared her family and was a home loving woman. The funeral services will be held on Thursday afternoon, the Rev. Yearnd officiating. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, March 16, 1927)

Obituary of Mrs. Henry Kruse

Ida Ann Smith was born in Ogle Co., Illinois, April 14, 1856, the daughter of Thomas and Eliza (Hubert) Smith, the former a native of Canada, the later a native of Germany. In her girlhood life she came with her parents to Grundy county, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Henry Kruse on February 2, 1878, having lived in Grundy county until March 1895, thence coming to Emmet county near Estherville and lived here until her death on March 14, 1927. To this union eleven children were born, five preceding her in death, were Roy E., Elmer E., Etta E., Ray and Henry A.

She leaves to mourn her death her husband, one sister, Mrs. Glen Reisinger, of Farmington, Minn.; two brothers, W. D. and Pete Smith of Kennsington, Kansas; two daughters and four sons, Fred T. of Graettinger; Effie E., wife of Orlando Anderson of Brookings, S.D.; Matta Izetta, wife of F. S. Gehlke, of Pomeroy, Iowa; Otto L., Guy, and Earl E. of Estherville and 12 grandchildren and hosts of relatives.

At the time of her death she was 70 years and 11 months old. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, March 23, 1927)
