Mrs. Effie Weir Dies at Age 86
Mrs. Effie Jane Weir, 86 of Estherville, died at 7;30 last night in her home after suffering a heart attack which was sudden and unexpected.

Family services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Sternborg-Reese Chapel. Public services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First Presbyterian Church, the Rev. James K. Lyons officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Hill cemetery.

Effie Jane Snyder was born Feb. 21, 1874, at Ford County, Ill. Her parents were Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Snyder. The Snyder family moved to a farm north of Estherville in 1890. She attended the rural Illinois schools and school in LeMars. She was a teacher two years. She was married to Matthew Weir March 12, 1903 near Estherville. They farmed near here and then lived in California a short time before moving to Fort Macleode, Alberta, Canada. They farmed there 14 years and returned to Estherville.

Mrs. Weir was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. June Wood of Estherville; Mrs. Herman Rohde, Estherville; Mrs. Carl Regensdorf of Seattle, Wash.; four sons, Lloyd of Choteau, Mont.; Alfred of Storm Lake; Rex of Fort Macleode, Canada; Harold of Estherville; 21 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers, two daughters and two grandchildren. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, September 24, 1960)
