Amanda Bellar [Beller] was born in Ohio Oct. 22, 1842. Died at her home in Estherville, Iowa, Jan. 28, 1905. She, with her family, moved to Peoria, Illinois, at the age of nine, and later moved to Benton county where in 1865, she was united in marriage to John Calvin Irwin. Of this union seven children were born, five of whom survive. From Benton county the family moved to Cherokee county, where they resided about twenty years, coming from there to Estherville about four years ago. Mrs. Irwin was converted to Christ while living in Benton county and united with the Methodist church, of which she has been a faithful member ever since. She was an earnest Christian, a loving wife and mother, and a sincere friend. The friends of the family unite in heartfelt sympathy and pray that the “Peace of God that passeth all understanding may keep their hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” (The Estherville Democrat, Estherville, IA, February 2, 1905)
