Mrs. M. L. Archer Dies in Burlington
Mrs. M. L. Archer died in the hospital in Burlington Sunday afternoon of cancer of the liver, after an illness of nearly a year.

The body arrived in this city Tuesday evening and was taken to the home of Dr. and Mrs. C. C. Galloway, which was formerly the home of the Archer family. Funeral is to be held from the residence this afternoon at two o’clock and interment made in Oak Hill cemetery in the Archer lot by the side of her husband who died ten years ago of typhoid fever.

Grace M. Williamson was born in Nealon, New York, in 1861, and resided there until she was united in marriage to Mr. M. L. Archer of this city in 1877, when she came to Estherville where she resided until about five years ago. At that time she secured a position at the state university which she held until taken ill when she went to Burlington at the home of an aunt. Her parents died several years ago and she has no sisters or brothers. She was greatly loved by all who knew her and many friends mourn her death. The remains of Mrs. M. L. Archer were brought here yesterday from Burlington to be laid to rest beside those of her husband in Oak Hill cemetery. Mrs. Archer has been ill in a hospital in that city for the past three months afflicted with a cancer. She was for many years a resident of this city, at which time she was a very prominent member of the social circles. After the death of Mr. Archer she went back to her old home in the east to reside, only coming here periodically to visit with her old time friends. About five months ago she visited here, and then went to Burlington for medical aid.

She passed away on last Sunday morning at eight o’clock and the remains were brought here. The funeral services were held this afternoon at the Dr. Galloway home. This being the first home of Mrs. Archer after her marriage, and also from the fact of the close friendship existing between herself and Mrs. Galloway. The Rev. R. C. Mitchell had charge of the services, assisted by a ladies’ quartet. Mrs. Archer has no immediate relatives here at this time. Her friends and close friends were numbered by her acquaintances.
