E. S. Camden Dies Here; Rites Set

Emerson S. Camden, 76, for more than 20 years a member of the Emmet County Board of Supervisors died yesterday at Holy Family Hospital. Mr. Camden had been a patient in the hospital for the past month, coming here from his home in Minneapolis. He had been in poor health for several years following a stroke. Mr. Camden had been a resident of Armstrong since 1910 but had moved to Minneapolis in 1908. He was in the drainage contracting business at Armstrong for many years and later farmed for several years. In addition to serving as a member of the Board of Supervisors, Mr. Camden also had been the board's chairman at various times during his long tenure.

He was born Feb. 22, 1885 at Freedom, Ind. When he first came to Iowa he lived at Emmetsburg but moved to Armstrong in 1910.

Mr. Camden was married to Mary Ellen Kennedy of Armstrong on Feb. 7, 1914.

His survivors include his widow, two sons, John, who with his family is en route to Thailand where he has been assigned for duty by an agency of the federal government; and Joseph, an employee of Bell Telephone Co. at Seattle, Wash.; two daughters, Mrs. Jack (Betty) Zimmerly of Minneapolis and Mrs. Don (Alice) Bopp of St. Louis; and 13 grandchildren.

Last rites will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Armstrong, with the Rev. E. E. Apt officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery,

Armstrong. A St. Mary's parish rosary will be held tonight at 9 o'clock at Sandin-Fuhrman Funeral Home. Friends may call from this afternoon at Sandin-Fuhrman Funeral Home until Saturday morning.

Pallbearers will be Tom Kennedy, Floyd Brekke, Donald Kennedy, James Kennedy, Michael Kennedy and Francis Fitzgibbons.
