Mrs. Allen Boyington Dies at 85

Mrs. Allen. (Fannie) Boyington, 85, former resident of the Estherville area, died Monday at 11 a.m. at Holy Family Hospital. Her death was attributed to a lingering illness and complications of advanced age. She had been in failing health, for the past two years.

Fannie Collins, the daughter of Dan O. and Betsy Collins, was born May 19, 1876 in Utica, N. Y. After graduation from high school she attended Iowa State Teachers College at Cedar Falls and taught school for several years in Wright County.

She was married Nov: 23, 1892 to Allen Boyington at Clarion and the couple farmed in Wright County until 1904 at which time they moved to a farm in Traverse County, Minn. In 1916 they returned to Iowa, settling on a farm north of Gruver. Mr. Boyington died Dec. 22, 1922 and in 1925, Mrs. Boyington moved to Dows where she continued to make her home until two years ago. She had lived at Eagle Grove with daughters since that time until two months ago when she came to Estherville to live with another daughter, Mrs. Gust Knudson.

Mrs. Boyington is survived by two sons, Gerald of Dows and Hugh of Elona; five daughters; Mrs. W. J. (Fern) Koenecke of Cosmos, Minn., Mrs. Karl (June)
Kaltansrud and Mrs. E.D. Carter, both of Eagle Grove; Mrs. Richard (Bernice) My Jr. of Lehigh, Mrs. Gust (Lucile) Knudson of rural Estherville; 20 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

Also surviving is one brother, Ralph O. Collins of Elkader.

Mrs. Boyington was preceded in death by her husband; one daughter, Esther Mae in 1908; one son, Thad, and her parents.

Funeral services for Mrs. Boyington are to be held Thursday at Sandin-Fuhrman Funeral Home. A family service will be at 1 p.m. and a service for friends is to be at 2 o’clock, the Rev. Rawlln J. Johnson of Union Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in the Dolliver cemetery.

Pallbearers are to be Thomas Boyington, Burton Koeneoke, Allen Boyington, Claud Boyington, Harold Knudson and Michael Hersonan, all grandsons of Mrs. Boyington.

Friends may call at Sandin-Fuhrman Funeral Home from today until time of the services on Thursday.
