ESTHERVILLE - services for Louis Rood, 90, formerly of Dolliver, will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Chapel in Estherville with Pastors Kermit Rye and Michael Kroona officiating. Interment will be in Palestine Lutheran Cemetery, rural Dolliver. He died Wednesday, Jan. 31, 1990 at the Good Samaritan Center.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 - 8 p.m. Friday.

He was born October 6, 1899, northwest of Dolliver, the son of Henry and Tilda (Jones) Rood and attended country school in Emmet County and high school in Argyle, Wis. His parents died when he was 11 years old and he moved with his brothers and sisters to Wisconsin to live with an aunt and uncle. At the age of 18 he moved to North Dakota and lived for six years. In 1927 he and his brother Bennie bought the homeplace near Dolliver. Rood farmed until 1966 and continued living on the farm until 1981 when he moved to the Good Samaritan Center. He remained single. He was a member of the Estherville Lutheran Church.

Survivors include one brother Bennie Rood, Warren, Minn.; three nephews: Robert Lilland, Estherville; Richard Lilland, Westminister, Colo., and Norman Rood, Madison, Wis.; three nieces: Mrs. Joe Walker, Centerville; Mrs. Gene Williams, Longmont, Colo. and Mrs. Dick Meyers, Warren, Minn. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother; two sisters and two nephews.
