Thorvald Olsen, Emmet Farmer, Dies at Hospital

Thorvald Olsen [Olson], 89, died Wednesday night [21 Nov 1945] at 8:05 p. m. at Holy Family hospital [Estherville] of complications of a broken hip. He had been in the hospital for the last four weeks.

Thorvald Olsen was born May 14, 1856 in Oslo, Norway, [His parents were Ole Olsen and Guthilda Thorson, both born in Norway.] and came to America in 1874 when he was 18 years of age. On March 7, 1884, he was united in marriage to Julia Berven at Webster City and farmed until about 15 years ago when he retired and moved to Estherville. He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran church.

Those who survive him are two sons, Tom Olsen or Ringsted and Gus Olsen of Estherville and one daughter, Mrs. Herman Sorum of Estherville.

Funeral arrangements have not as yet been made.
