WALLINGFORD--Funeral services for Bertha O. Olson, 99, of Estherville will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 6 at the Wallingford Lutheran Church in Wallingford with Pastor Rusty Bailey officiating. Internment will be held at the Wallingford Lutheran Cemetery in Wallingford. She died Sunday, Nov. 2, 2003 at the Good Samaritan Center in Estherville.

Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 5 at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville.

Bertha was born on Jan. 20, 1904 in Wallingford, the daughter of Lewis B. and Petra (Wolden) Nelson. She attended Wallingford schools through the eighth grade and graduated from Estherville High School in 1923.

On April 29, 1924, she was united in marriage to Jeffrey Olson at Wallingford. They farmed east of Wallingford until Jeffrey's retirement in 1965. Jeffrey passed away Jan. 24, 1973.

Bertha lived on the farm until 1978, when she moved into Wallingford, where she lived until Dec. 17, 2000, when she became a resident of the Good Samaritan Center in Estherville.

Bertha was a lifelong member of the Wallingford Lutheran Church and was active in WLCW, Priscilla Circle and quilting. She and a couple of her friends walked several miles daily, weather permitting, until recent years.

Left to cherish Bertha's memory are her grandchildren, Jack Felkey and his wife, Debby of Bozeman, Mont., Russ Felkey and his wife, Jean of Minnetonka, Minn., Jeff Felkey and his wife, Lori of Armstrong; Diane Tromblay and her husband, Al; David Young and his wife Peggy; Douglas Young and his wife, Pat all of Wallingford; seventeen great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Palma Pool of Albert Lea; brother-in-law, Wayne Bryan of Estherville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding Bertha in death were her husband, Jeffrey; two daughters, Dolores and Beverly; one son Kenneth; two granddaughters, sons-in-laws, Dale Young and Byrl Felkey; four sisters and one brother.
