ARMSTRONG - Funeral services for Grace C. Hoien, 79, of Armstrong will he at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 13, 2005, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Ringsted with Pastor Lois Knutson officiating. Interment will follow at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Ringsted. She died Sunday, July 10, 2005. at Fairmont Medical Center in Fairmont, Minn.

Visitation will he from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Chapel in Armstrong.

Grace Camilla Lund, the daughter of Sophus and Anne (Petersen) Lund, was born July 23, 1925, in Halfa, Iowa. She died Sunday, July 10, 2005, at Fairmont Medical Center in Fairmont, Minnesota, at the age of 79 years old.

She received her education and graduated from Ringsted High School. Following her graduation from high school Grace attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, Iowa. After graduation from college Grace taught in Henriksen Country School for one year and two years at Maple Hill Consolidated School.

On February 23, 1947, she was united in marriage to Donald Frederick Hoien at St. John's Lutheran Church in Ringsted. The couple lived the first three years of their marriage in Seneca Township, then moving to a farm west of Ringsted, for six years and later moving to Dolliver, where they lived for five years. The couple, then made their home on a farm north of Ringsted. Don died on May 21, 1987. Grace served as President of Dolliver PTA and several committees for 4-H at the county level. In her leisure time Grace enjoyed crocheting, reading, baking and playing golf. She made many dolls, teddy bears and afghans. Grace also enjoyed mowing her lawn.

Grace was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Ringsted where she was baptized, confirmed and married. She held church offices in WELCA and also on St. John's Lutheran Church Council. Grace was also a member of Riverside Club, Roadside Club and two birthday clubs.

Grateful for having shared Grace's life are her children, Beverly Ann Fisher and her husband, James of rural Estherville; Lonnie Ray Hoien and his wife, Deborah of rural Armstrong; grandchildren, Ann Harris and her husband, Brad; James Fisher and his wife, Tonya; Joel Fisher and his wife, Sara; Erica Tweeten and her husband, Josh; Lacey Hoien; Haley Hoien; great-grandchildren, Ethan, Wyatt and Austin Harris; Kyley Walders; Meredith and Lydia Fisher; and Nora Tweeten. Grace also considered Travis and Amy Eckelberg her grandchildren.

Preceding Grace in death were her parents; husband; granddaughter, Lindsey Rae Hoien; Travis Eckelberg; parents; five brothers, Raymond, Leonard, Fredrick, Arnold, Harry; and one sister, Esther Carlson.
