Funeral services for Mrs. Gustav (Barbra) Gilbert of Wallingford, 82, who died Sunday at 12:15 p.m. at the Balmer Rest Home, will be held tomorrow at 3 p.m. at the Walllngford Lutheran church, the Rev. C. B. Gunderson officiating. Burial will be in Riverside cemetery near Wallingford. For the past seven or eight years Mrs. Gilbert had been in poor health due to a heart ailment.
Mrs. Gilbert was born March 23, 1872, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. O. Sando. Her birthplace was the log cabin which now stands in Riverside Park In Esthervllle. The cabin was moved to Estherville from a farm south of town.
She received her education in the Estherville grade schools and High School and taught in the rural schools of Emmet county before her marriage on Sept. 21, 1883 to Gustav Gilbert.
Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert farmed west of Wallingford until 1925 when they moved to Wallingford. For many years Mrs. Gilbert engaged in practical nursing. Mr. Gilbert died in August 1942 after which Mrs. Gilbert continued to make her home in Walllngford. For the past several years her sister, Mrs. Beatta Oxhovd had made her home with her.
Mm. Gilbert was a member of the Wallingford Lutheran church and an active member of the W.M.F. as long as her health permitted.
She was preceded in death by three daughters, her husband, her parents, four brothers and three sisters. Her survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Sam (Viola) Natterstad, Mrs. L. W. (Margaret) Ladd; two sons, R. W. Gilbert of Denver, Colo., F, T. Gilbert of Irvlngton, Ala.; 10 grandchildren, four great grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Beatta Oxhovd of Wallingford.
Pallbearers have been named as Jamie Kasa, Oscar Peterson, Clarence Olson, Chester Torreson, Martin Natterstad and Elmer Ellefson.
