Funeral services for Margaret M. Herke were held on Wednesday, January 25, 2006, at 10:30 a.m. at United Methodist Church in Graettinger, Iowa. Pastor Vicki Fisher officiated the services and Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Casket bearers were Dennis Spoo, John Umscheid, Mike Reardon, Pat Reardon, Chad Baldwin and Jeff Reardon.

Margaret Mary Haisman, the daughter of Frank and Veronica (Guerdet) Haisman, was born April 25, 1932, in Estherville, Iowa. She died Saturday, January 21, 2006 at her home in rural Estherville, Iowa, at the age of 73 years.

She received her education in the Graettinger, Iowa schools.

On May 21, 1952, Margaret was united in marriage to Chester Herke in Spirit Lake, Iowa. Following their marriage the couple made their home in San Diego, California. In 1954, they returned to the area where they were engaged in farming in the Wallingford area. In her leisure time Margaret enjoyed reading, sewing, knitting, raising yellow roses, gardening and canning.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Graettinger.

Left to cherish Margaret's memory are her husband, Chester of rural Estherville; two sons, Mike Herke of rural Estherville; David Herke and his wife, Sherrill of Estherville; one daughter, Deb Shields and her husband, Al of Estherville; grandchildren, Audrey, David, Jessica, Steven, Randy, Elissa, Terra; great-grandchildren, Sidney, Landon, Alana; her mother, Veronica Haisman of Estherville, and her brothers and sisters, Betty Reardon and her husband, Red of Estherville; Jerry Haisman and his wife Patsy of Greensboro, North Carolina; Richard Haisman of Lake Center, Iowa; Kenny Haisman and his wife, Diane of Estherville; and Kathy Grey and he4r husband, Bob of Rolfe, Iowa.

Preceding Margaret in death were her father and maternal and paternal grandparents.

Internment was at Valley View Cemetery in Graettinger, Iowa.
