Nettie Hackett, 80, Dies; Rites Are Conducted

Funeral services were to have been been held today at 2 p.m. for Mrs. John S. (Nettie Ethel) Hackett, 80, who died Saturday [Feb. 14, 1970] at Holy Family Hospital.

She was born Feb. 4, 1890 to Mr. and Mrs. Henry Parsons, Galt. She was educated in the Galt schools. She lived in Clarion, Dows and Rowan before coming to Estherville in 1907.

On Jan. 21, 1909, she married John S. Hackett at Wapello. The couple made their home in Estherville where Hackett was a conductor on the Rock Island Railroad. He died Sept. 1, 1955.

Survivors are four sons, Glenn, George, Clarence, all of Estherville, and Leonard, Arnolds Park; one daughter, Mrs. Wally (Ruth) Spence of Estherville; 12 grandchildren and five great grandchildren; one brother, H. L. Parsons, Dows, and two sisters, Mrs.M. F. Knuths, Ames, and Mrs. E. W. Lyle, Estherville.

Preceding her in death was her husband, parents, one brother, Otis, and one sister, Julia Anna.

Funeral services were to have been held at 2 p.m. today at Fuhrman Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Headen officiating. Burial was to be in East Side Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Marvin Edwards, Fred Elwood, Martin Evans, Beryl Furne, Don Meyer and Walter Zitterich.
