Obituary: John E. Hansen--April 8, 1963 in Eagle Grove, Wright County, Iowa
Mr. Hansen Is survived by his wife Anna, two daughters and four sons, Mrs. Clinton Fraser of Grandview, Mo., Mrs. Don Spangler of Eagle Grove; Edmund Hansen of Kimball, Neb.; Gerald Hansen of West Des Moines; John E. Hansen Jr. of Goldfield; and Robert L. Hansen of New London, Iowa.
He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, two sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Peter Johansen of Ringsted, Mrs. Henry Gertsen, Des Moines, Carl T. Hansen, Ringsted and W. E. Hansen, Ottosen.
John Hansen was born Dec. 27, 1888 in Ringsted, Iowa, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lars Hansen.
He had been in the banking business most of his life and since 1954 had operated a loan office in Eagle Grove.
He was the Democratic Representative from Carroll County for 3 terms in the Iowa Legislature, serving in 1947, 1949 and 1951. He was also an unsuccessful Democratic candidate for state treasurer.
He was a member of The First Congregational Church and the Masonic Lodge. He has been a member and chairman of the Eagle Grove Park Commission for the past several years. He was the first chairman of the Congregational Church Building Committee under which the 5 year building program was instituted. His will be the first funeral service in the new church building which he was instrumental in promoting.
