Services For Mavis

Well Known Emmet County Farmer Stricken While On Trip to Illinois

Funeral services for Charles Mavis, 65, of Armstrong, were held Tuesday at 2 p.m. from his farm home 11 miles east of Estherville, and at 2:30 from the Free Methodist church at Armstrong. Burial will be made in cemetery at Armstrong.

Mavis had gone to West Salem, Ill., on a business trip when he became seriously ill. Mrs. Mavis was called to Illinois and was at her husbands bedside when he died.

Mavis was born in West Salem and spent his early life there.

He is survived by his widow, two sons, Vivian and Currie, and one daughter, Mrs. Austin Frett who lives northwest of Armstrong. Vivian Mavis, who is in the armed services and his wife arrived in Estherville Saturday morning but Currie Mavis and his wife who live at Pasadena, Calif., will be unable to come.
