MRS. GROTH'S RITES TO BE TOMORROW
Funeral services for Mrs. H. K. Groth (Julia) pioneer resident of this county, who died Monday [23 Dec 1940] at the age of 88, will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at the Mahlum and Anderson funeral chapel [in Estherville] and at 1:30 p.m. at the Wallingford Lutheran church. The Rev. Mr. Paulsrud of Randall, Ia., will conduct the rites. Burial will be in the Wallingford cemetery.
Mrs. Groth died Monday at 5 p.m. at the home of her daughter, Miss Rose Groth, in Minneapolis. Surviving are four children, Miss Rose Groth of Minneapolis, Mrs. C.J. Maglestad of Ellsworth, Ia., Carl Groth and Mrs. Carl Peterson, both of Estherville. Her husband preceded her in death in 1932.
Mrs. Groth was born in Norway [9 Feb 1852 on the Sundbrei farm in Aal, Buskerud Co.,] and came to this country with her parents [Lars and Guri Paulson] when she was five years old. The family settled in Emmet County on the farm which is now the Emmet County farm. She was married on Jan. 11, 1877, to H. K. Groth.
The body will be sent here from Minneapolis Friday morning.
