Funeral services for Lorine R. Gangestad, 87, of Mankato, MN, formerly of Armstrong, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 10, 2005 at the Nazareth Lutheran Church in Armstrong with Pastor Harold Heinzig officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5-8:00 p.m. at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Armstrong. Burial will be in Armstrong Grove Cemetery at Armstrong.
She passed away Friday, March 4, 2005 at Sunrise Cottages in Mankato, MN.
Lorine Richmond Olson, the daughter of Leonard and Louise [Gibbs] Olson was born March 22, 1917 in Armstrong. She received her education in the Armstrong schools, graduating from Armstrong High School in 1936. On July 27, 1945, she was united in marriage to Clifford Gangestad in East Chain, MN. Following their marriage, the couple farmed in Halfa, Ringsted and Fenton areas. Lorine was employed at various restaurants in Fairmont, MN; at Valley Vue Care Center in Armstrong and Schultz Hatchery in Bancroft, Iowa. They retired in 1974 and moved to Armstrong. Mr. Gangsted died November 20, 1985. In 2000, Lorine moved to Mankato to be nearer her daughter.
Left to cherish Lorine's memory are her children: Charlene Buchan and husband, Jerry of Ceylon, MN; Myron Gangestad and wife, Judy of Wichita, KS; Anita Davis and husband, Tom of Sherburn, MN; Cecelia Jensen and husband, Craig of Litchfield Park, AZ; Jo Gangestad and her partner; Tom Westlund of Mankato, MN; Mark Gangestad and wife, Kristie of Carson City, NV: Steve Gangestad and wife, Vicki of Fenton; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; and three brothers, William Olson and wife Donna of Armstrong; Alvin Olson and wife, Mary Ann of Armstrong; and Norman Olson and wife, Margaret of Stockton, CA.
Lorine was preceded in death by her husband, parents; one daughter, Gina; one granddaughter; and one brother, Willis.
She was a member of the Nazareth Lutheran Church in Armstrong, and a past 4-H leader. She also did volunteer work at the Senior Citizens Center in Armstrong.
