ESTHERVILLE, Iowa -- Services for Gertrude Fuchs, 87, of Estherville will be 11 a.m. Friday at First Christian Church, Estherville, with Dr. Mike Thiel officiating. Burial will be in Superior Township Cemetery.

Mrs. Fuchs died Monday, April 29, 2002, at Good Samaritan Center, Estherville. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home, Estherville.

Gertrude M. Hunt, the daughter of Joseph A. and Myrtle B. (Johnson) Hunt was born April 7,1915, in Kingsville, Missouri, and departed this life on Monday, April 29, 2002, at Good Samaritan Center in Estherville, at the age of 87 years and 22 days.

She received her education in the rural schools.

On January 7, 1933, she was united in marriage to Lester Friesner at Jackson, Minnesota. After their marriage, the couple lived in numerous places in Iowa and Minnesota. Mr. Friesner died May 1, 1963. Gertrude was employed at Berkley's in Spirit Lake for several years. On March 16, 1970, she was united in marriage to Russell Eike in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The couple made their home in Estherville. Mr. Eike died on November 15, 1974.

On June 24, 1976, Gert was united in marriage to Clifford Fuchs at the First Christian Church in Estherville. Following their marriage the couple made their home in Blue Earth, Minnesota. She has been a resident of the Good Samaritan Care Center in Estherville since August of 1998. Gertrude enjoyed canning, crafts, traveling, music and fishing.

Gertrude was an active member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church and St. Paul's Lutheran Women and also the VFW Auxiliary.

Survivors include husband, Clifford Fuchs of Blue Earth, MN; daughters, Marvel Anderson and husband, Oliver, of Estherville, and Marlene Rayborn and husband, Tom of Ankeny, IA; sons Virgil Friesner and wife, Anne, and John Friesner and wife, Diane, all of Estherville; daughter-in-law, Elaine Anderson and husband, Tom, of Laurens, IA; 17 grandchildren, four step-grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; sister Maria Lint of Des Moines, IA.

She has been preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, son Willard, five brothers and five sisters.
