Blanchard Palmer Peterson was born in High Lake township, Emmet County, Iowa April 5, 1897 and died Oct. 24, 1918. Age 21 years 6 months and 19 days. He grew to manhood in this community and always had a smile and a cheerful disposition to everybody. He was confirmed into the Immanuel Lutheran church by Rev. T. J. Severtson. Blanchard should have gone in the last October call to serve his country as a soldier and he was very anxious to go but was spared the hardships of the service. Blanchard will be missed not only by his family but by everybody that knew him because we will all remember the smiles and the happy disposition he always carried with him. He leaves a mother, Mrs. Mary Peterson, a brother Maynard, a sister Pearl and a grandmother, Mrs. Peter N. Peterson. His grandfather passed away a year ago on the same date as his grandson died. His father died in 1911. The cause of death was influenza and pneumonia which took away his strength. He also suffered from intestinal obstruction and all this was too much to overcome.
