JOHN DURLING
Earlville, IA.--Special:
Funeral services were held at the Clifton funeral home here Monday afternoon for John Durling, 88, who died at the county home near Delhi at 1 o'clock Saturday morning. Mr Durling, son of Mr and Mrs John Durling, was born near Bristol, in Somersetshire, England, March 8, 1847. With his parents and his sister, the late Mrs Elizabeth Curry, he came to the U.S. and located at Dyersville in 1853, when he was only six years old. On April 17, 1881, Mr Durling was married to Miss Sarah Gould, who died three years ago in January. For 37 years the lived on a farm in North Fork township near Earlville. Eighteen years ago they moved to Earlville.
Mr Durling was a member of the Earlville M.E. Church.
He is survived by two daughters, Mrs Ruby Smith of Manchester and Mrs William Kinney of Amboy, Ill. A number of grandchildren also survive.
The Rev A.J. Kindred, pastor of the local M.E. church, officiated.
Mrs H.A. Bergman, Mrs Ed Irmscher and Ben Holscher, with Lillian Kahl as accompanist, sang several selections.
