Sister Mary Elizabeth Eaton, BVM, 100, died Nov. 6, 2013, at Marian Hall in Dubuque, Iowa. Burial is in the Mount Carmel cemetery, Dubuque. Born in Des Moines, Iowa, Sister Mary Elizabeth taught for many years in the Des Moines public school system at Hannawalt, Windsor, Hubbell, Longfellow and Moulton elementary schools. She served as organist at St. Joseph and St. Theresa Churches in Des Moines. She also taught in Davenport, Iowa, and Rock Island, Ill. She was born Jan. 30, 1913, to Henry C. and Edith Marshall Eaton. She entered the BVM congregation from St. Theresa Parish, Des Moines, Sept. 8, 1938. She withdrew in 1945 to care for her parents and re-entered the congregation Feb. 2, 1980, professing first vows on March 29, 1981, and final vows on March 25, 1984. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by cousins and the Sisters of Charity, BVM, with whom she shared life for 40 years.
