Brooke “Buck” Mathew Alber, 49, of Hawkeye, Iowa died Sunday, August 14, 2022 at his home. Buck was born on November 7, 1972 to Gerald (Gary) Dean and Marvel Joy (Frederick) Alber in West Union, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Eldorado. He graduated from North Fayette High School in 1991.
Buck was married to Dawn Blue and two daughters were born to this union. They later divorced. He had a relationship with Lillian Coonfare and one son was born to this union.
Buck had several jobs over the years, but his favorite job of all was over-the-road trucking. Buck liked all sports especially the Minnesota Vikings, Tony Stewart Racing, and Iowa State Cyclones. He would even cheer for the Iowa Hawkeyes if they weren’t playing the Cyclones. He enjoyed local stock car races and demo derbies. He loved country music and enjoyed listening to Garth Brooks and enjoyed singing at Karaoke events.
Buck loved his family. He ALWAYS talked so highly of his children and siblings. He was proud of everyone’s achievements and would share those stories as if they were his own. Buck was diagnosed with Myotonic Dystrophy in 2010 which limited his activities. Even with the diagnoses, he kept a positive attitude and strived to remain independent. Buck was very conservative with his spending. He hired a pro bono barber. The barber’s name was Tyler Alber. Odds are Tyler never got paid.
Surviving Buck are his three children, Randi Jurgensen of Cresco, Iowa, Rikki (Timmy) Schwab of St. Lucas, Iowa and Tyler Alber of Volga, Iowa; one granddaughter, Alexa Grace Jurgensen; and seven siblings, Randy (Linda) Alber of Boone, Iowa, Steve (Chrisanne) Alber of Protivin, Iowa, Jeff (LuAnn) Alber of Ossian, Iowa, Joy (Ric) Miller of West Union, Iowa, Tad Alber of West Union, Iowa, Kristi (Marty) Rupprecht of West Union, Iowa and Chad Alber of Sumner, Iowa, and several nieces and nephew. Buck was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Marvel Alber.
Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 am on Sunday, August 21, 2022 at St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery in Eldorado, Iowa with Presiding Minister Isaiah Stansbery as the officiant.
All are welcome to attend the Celebration of Life Luncheon following the burial at the West Union Event Center in West Union, Iowa.
Burnham-Wood-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of West Union, Iowa is assisting the family with arrangements.
