Lowell J. Shinn, 86, of Platteville, Wisconsin, died on Saturday, July 30, 2022 at Southwest Health Center. Funeral services will be at 12:00 PM (Noon) Thursday, August 4, 2022 at the United Methodist Church, Platteville. Chapel military rites will be accorded by American Legion Post #42 and VFW Post #5274. Burial will be at the Belmont Cemetery, Belmont, Wisconsin. Lowell was born on November 17, 1935 in Lima Township, Grant County, son of Willard and Fern (Atkinson) Shinn. He was united in marriage to Anna Mae Kittoe on August 23, 1961 in Platteville. She preceded him in death on March 29, 2002. Lowell served in the United States National Guard from 1954 – 1963. In 1961 Lowell was called to active duty and spent 9 months at Ft. Lewis Washington. He was a patrolman for Grant County Highway Department working from 1965 – 1998. He also hauled milk part-time for John Dobson, Vernon Campbell and Joe Dolphin over the years. After retiring he was a courier for Clare Bank, which he really enjoyed. Lowell liked spending time on his computer, putting together jigsaw puzzles and searching the web on his computer. He enjoyed going fishing at Ambrose Slew in Prairie du Chien with his family. Lowell liked volunteering and attending the Oasis Christian music in Platteville. Lowell always liked a good conversation, a good game of euchre on the weekends and going to the family farm.
Lowell is survived by his daughter, Marilyn(Wayne) Jones; grandson, Alexander Jones; special friend and companion, Gloria Jones. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Mae, two infant grandchildren, Jacob Matthew and Alisha Marie Jones and his parents.
