PATCH GROVE - Carol Marie (Neises) Kanack, age 83, of Jefferson, TX, formerly of Patch Grove, Wisconsin passed away peacefully on the morning of Monday, July 25, 2022, in the presence of her loving husband Wayne Kanack.
Carol was the daughter and first child of Leonard and Elsie (Graf) Neises and grew up on the family farm in Patch Grove. She graduated from Patch Grove School and Wisconsin State College Platteville, where she met Wayne. In addition to being a Platteville Pioneer, she became a real pioneer by moving to Alaska with Wayne right after their marriage in 1959 and Alaska’s 1959 incorporation as America’s 49th state. She returned to the United States mainland in 1964 and made her home in five different midwestern states. After raising her three sons, she worked for the IRS and the United States Bankruptcy Court prior to retirement.
Carol’s greatest loves were her family - her brothers and sisters, children, and grandchildren. She also loved gardening and animals of all kinds, but mostly her cherished dog Libby. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Carol is survived by her husband of 63 years; her three sons; five grandchildren; two sisters and two brothers. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Elsie, and beloved brother, William.
