A Dubuque Boy Kills
His Brother With Gun

The shooting to death of William R. Bishop, 19, by his 15 year old brother, John, at their home at Dubuque, December 28, was intentional, the boy has admitted to the police.
John shot a .29 caliber rifle bullet into his older brother’s heart when he became angry at William’s persistence in firing “B.B.” bullets at John’s back in fun, he told officials. County Attorney Huntzinger said a charge of manslaughter was filed against John, but that after a preliminary hearing in district court, the youth will be turned over to juvenile authorities. He probably will be sent to reform school. William died about 15 minutes after he was shot. His only words, John said, were: “You call the doctor, Johnny; you shot me.” Later the court paroled the youthful slayer to his father.
