Julia G. “Judy” Holmes, age 99 of Prairie du Chien passed away Tuesday, June 7, 2022, at Prairie Maison in Prairie du Chien. She was born on October 13, 1922, the daughter of George and Adeline (DuCharme) Becwar. She grew up in the Prairie du Chien area and worked at the St. Gabriel’s Rectory as a secretary and a cook. Judy married Mervin Holmes on June 5, 1954, at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church in Prairie du Chien. Together, they raised their family in Prairie du Chien for many years. She enjoyed shopping and watching game shows on television. Judy’s husband Mervin preceded her in death on January 27, 1999, after 44 years of marriage. She is survived by her son Michael and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Albert, Fred, Charles, Joe, and Clarence Becwar and sisters Grace Crowley, Mae Romanek, and Rose DeClue.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, June 13, 2022, at 11:00 A.M. at St. John’s Church of the Holy Family Parish, Msgr. Charles Stoetzel officiating with burial in the Evergreen Cemetery, both in Prairie du Chien. Friends may call at the church on Monday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service.
