David L. Diefenthaler (1951-2022)

MADISON - David L. Diefenthaler, age 71, of Madison, passed away on Sunday, May 15, 2022, at St. Mary's Hospital. He was born on Oct. 28, 1950, in San Francisco, Calif., the son of Peter and Adele (Mueller) Diefenthaler.

Dave graduated from Dubuque Senior High School and later, UW-Whitewater. He was employed as a Senior Systems Engineer for QBE, retiring in 2013. Dave married Judith "Judy" (Westhoff) Diefenthaler on March 25, 1972.

Dave enjoyed boating, golfing, playing cards, and bowling, but the most important thing to him was his family.

Dave is survived by his wife, Judy; daughter, Sarah (Kyle) Kravick; son, Andy Diefenthaler; granddaughters, Taylor Fabian and Lyndsey Diefenthaler; grandsons, Calvin Kravick and Ian Kravick; brother, Peter (Vickie Sedam) Diefenthaler Jr.; his beloved German Shepherd, Chewy; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. DENNIS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 505 Dempsey Road, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 23, 2022, with Father Randy Timmerman presiding. Family and friends who wish to view services via LIVE STREAM may visit David’s obituary page at www.gundersonfh.com and click on the Live Webcast link at 11 a.m. on Monday. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Sunday, May 22, 2022, and also at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Monday.
