Mrs. Elizabeth Bauer Dies at Her
Home in This City Last
Night

Mrs. Elizabeth Bauer, aged 81, one of the pioneer residents of Dubuque, died at her home, 1955 Washington Street, at 8:45 o’clock last night after an illness extending over the past two years. Funeral arrangements will be announced later.

The funeral of Mrs. Elizabeth Bauer who passed away at her home on 1955 Washington Street on Saturday evening will be held from the residence to St. Mary's church at 9 o'clock, Tuesday morning. Deceased was born in Hanover, Germany, August 38, 1832, and when four years of age came to America with her parents, who settled in Hamilton, Ohio. She lived there until eleven years old when the family removed to Iowa City, coming to Dubuque in 1852, and since resided in this city. Her marriage to Valentine Bauer was celebrated shortly after arriving in Dubuque. Her husband died November 6, 1866. She is survived by the following children: Andrew, Albinus, Frank, Mrs. Mary Vorwald and Elizabeth Kutsch, all of Dubuque. The deceased was one of the oldest members of St. Mary's church and was a devout Catholic all her life. The maiden name of the deceased was Elizabeth Vorwald. She was contrite and was married by Bishop Loras, the first Bishop of Dubuque. She was a member of the Rosary society of St. Mary's parish. The funeral will be held Tuesday morning at 9 o'clock. The services will be held at St. Mary's and the burial will be at Mt. Calvary.
