Larry Eugene Borcherding (1941-2022)

Larry Eugene Borcherding, age 81, of Guttenberg, IA, died Monday, April 18, 2022. He was born on February 13, 1941 on the home farm, the son of Alvin and Marguerite (Palmer) Borcherding.

Larry attended the country school near his home and later attended the Guttenberg High School. On May 27, 1960, Larry was united in marriage with Harriet Moser at St. John’s Church in Guttenberg and the couple were blessed with 2 daughters, Tammy & Kimberly. Harriet and Larry were married for over 43 years when Harriet passed away on Jan 4, 2004. After Harriet’s passing Larry found friendship and compassion with a friend named Kathyrn Kregel. Larry and Kathyrn were later married on March 5, 2005 and spent many wonderful years together until Kathyrn passed away on Jan 31, 2017. For many years Larry operated heavy equipment all over northeast Iowa. He was a longtime member, past President and board member of the Northeast Iowa Farm & Antique Association. Larry also served many years on the Guttenberg City Cemetery Board of Directors. He enjoyed hunting, collecting John Deere tractors and spending time with his family and friends.

Those left to cherish his memory are Larry’s 2 daughters, Tammy (Scott) Meyer & Kimberly (Timothy) Torson; step son Paul (Cindy) Kregel; 4 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; 2 step grandsons; sister, Elizabeth Schwendinger and many other relatives and friends.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents; 2 wives, Harriet & Kathyrn.
