Charles M. “Charlie” Knox, 71, of Platteville, Wisconsin, died on Monday, October 11, 2021. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. (Noon) on Saturday, October 23, 2021, at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, where there will be a time of sharing at Noon. Charlie was born on January 20, 1950 in Hartford, Connecticut, son of Malcolm and Ruth (Whitney) Knox. Charlie was united in marriage to Kellie M. Millett in Viroqua, Wisconsin, in 1984. They had two sons, Doug and Will. Kellie preceded him in death on January 29, 2020. Charlie taught math and physics at the New Hampshire Technical Institute and later at Southwest Technical College, Fennimore. He then taught Industrial Robotics at UW-Platteville until retiring. Charlie and Kellie spent many years at their vacation home on Cape Cod, Massachusetts. He enjoyed the outdoors and water, traveling, camping, canoeing, sailing, and especially bicycling. His latest interest was learning how to fly model airplanes. He was a member of the Nature Conservancy, Sierra Club, EAA and recently joined the Academy of Model Aeronautics.
He is survived by his sons, Doug (Emily) Knox and Will Knox; granddaughter, Kiera; sister, Callie (Jordan) Hopkins, brothers, Andrew Knox and Bill (Kate) Knox; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death also by his parents.
On the morning of his death, Charlie and Will went for a bike ride and test flew a model airplane they had built together. He always moved forward. He never complained. He will be missed.
