Ann Celeste Henle 82 of Galena, IL passed away surrounded by loving family on Friday, March 5, 2021, after fighting Parkinson’s Disease with force for over 30 years.
Due to current COVID-19 restrictions, a private family service will be held at the Furlong Funeral Chapel, Galena. Cremation rites have been accorded.
Ann was born on September 3, 1938, in Columbus, NE the daughter of Dr. Ray H. and Arline (Heyd) Turner. She married Charles “Chuck” R. Henle on December 27, 1959, in Belvidere, IL. Ann attended Iowa State University, Ames, IA where she sang in their choir. Following graduation, she continued her love for music singing in her church and any other place she could. She made the decision when her youngest daughter began attending kindergarten to return to college. Ann spent many long nights at Northern Illinois University, DeKalb, IL and achieved a master’s degree in dietetics.
She was a very selfless, loving, and devoted wife, mother, cherished grandmother, and great-grandmother. Ann, together with her husband and oldest daughter began the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory in Galena. She had the voice of an angel, a heart of gold and will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Ann is survived by her husband, Chuck Henle, oldest daughter, Catherine (David) Henle-Lewis, and youngest daughter, Carole Henle-Shutts, all of Galena, four grandchildren, SSgt. Andrew (Jackie) Koenig of Rochelle, IL; Victoria (Jason) Manley, of Galena, Zachary (Cate) Lewis of Galena, and Brett Shutts, of Galena, six great-grandchildren, Connor Gorton Lewis, Brantley Koenig, William Lewis, Madeline Koenig, Charlotte Manley, and Amelia Lewis; and a brother in-law, William (Lee-Anne) Henle, Vancouver, WA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Lt. Col. Ronald D. Turner, and sister in-law, Susan Turner.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice of Dubuque or Purr-fection Animal Rescue, Galena, in memory of Ann.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to everyone at Galena Stauss Senior Care Community, Hospice of Dubuque, and Doctor Mary Koenigs for taking such amazing care of our beautiful Ann. Your care and kindness mean more to us than you know. Bless you all!
